CAPABILITIES

From greenfield opportunity to end user.

Exploration, processing and consulting, delivered as one development process or as a single defined workstream.

Three ways to work with Mhatu

One development process, or one defined workstream.

Mhatu originates and develops its own projects, and partners with landowners, mineral-rights holders, producers and investors to advance opportunities from exploration towards commercially viable assets.

Exploration and resource development

From property and geological review through staged exploration, resource evaluation, testwork and development studies.

Processing and industrial solutions

Turning a resource into a saleable product and connecting it with the right concentrator, smelter, refinery or industrial customer.

Investment and consulting

Investor and partner engagement for credible projects, and standalone advisory or integrated development mandates.

01 · Exploration and resource development

Start with the ground.

We originate our own opportunities and assess properties introduced by landowners, rights holders and project owners. The deposit, available evidence and results determine the work programme. Mineral identification is the starting point; further work establishes commercial potential.

StageInputsWorkOutputProgression criteria
01 · Property and authorityLocation, coordinates, tenure, prospecting or mining rights, access and mandates.Review the rights and the authority to advance the opportunity.A confirmed basis to proceed, or a list of gaps to close.Rights and authority are in order.
02 · Geological evidenceHistorical work, geological reports and existing assays.Review the evidence; identify the principal target and further mineral potential the geology supports. An assessment of mineral potential. The evidence supports a defined work programme.
03 · Staged explorationAn agreed programme, site access and appropriate technical specialists.Mapping, surveys, sampling, laboratory analysis and exploration drilling, undertaken or coordinated through technical specialists.New geological and assay data. Results justify further work.
04 · Resource evaluationSampling, drilling and assay data.Assess mineralisation, continuity, grade and data quality. An evaluation of the deposit. Resource estimation follows only where the data supports it.Data quality and continuity are sufficient for the next stage.
05 · Metallurgical testworkRepresentative samples and mineralogy.Test recovery, product quality and impurities.Recovery assumptions and potential saleable products.A credible product route exists.
06 · Infrastructure and development studiesEvaluation results; power, water, logistics and infrastructure requirements.Development studies, mine planning and development budgets.A development concept and cost basis.Technical viability and delivery requirements are understood.
07 · Economics and market assessmentSaleable products, cost estimates and customer requirements.Market assessment, project economics and sensitivities.A business case.A credible case supports investor and offtake engagement. Bankability still depends on funder requirements.

Exploration drilling is separate from production drilling and blasting. Production drilling and blasting form part of mine development and operations, tailored to the agreed project scope.

02 · Processing and industrial solutions

Make the product fit the market.

We assess how each resource can become a saleable product and connect it with suitable concentrators, processing plants, smelters, refineries and industrial customers. The route considers mineralogy, grade, impurities, recoveries, volumes, infrastructure and delivery economics. Solutions may include concentration, beneficiation, blending, toll processing and direct industrial supply.

Physical preparation

Crushing, screening, washing, concentration and beneficiation to improve the product.

Product control

Blending, quality assurance and qualification against customer specifications.

Processing partners

Toll processing, concentrator, smelter and refinery arrangements matched to the feedstock.

Industrial supply

Direct supply where material already meets an industrial consumer's requirements.

Multi-commodity deposits

Each recoverable product is assessed. Where several metals remain in one concentrate, the agreement addresses payable metals, treatment and refining charges, and impurity penalties.

We identify and engage suitable investors and strategic development partners for projects with a credible business case, supported by technical evidence, defined milestones and a clear route to market. Clients may also appoint Mhatu for a standalone advisory assignment or an integrated development mandate.

01 · Project identification

Opportunity screening and origination.

02 · Exploration strategy

Programme design and technical-work coordination.

03 · Resource and development

Resource evaluation and development planning.

04 · Investment readiness

Assess the project's readiness for investment.

05 · Processing routes

Beneficiation, smelter and refinery-route assessment.

06 · Business case

Commercial evaluation and business-case development.

07 · Investor engagement

Investor identification and proposal preparation.

08 · Partnership structuring

Joint ventures and strategic partnerships.

09 · Offtake strategy

Buyer engagement, negotiations and market access.

10 · Delivery planning

Logistics, export planning and end-user delivery.

11 · Implementation

Execution planning and operational coordination.

Progress towards bankability depends on technical viability, project economics, project readiness and the requirements of prospective funders. Investment remains subject to their assessment and agreement. Technical work is delivered or coordinated through appropriately qualified specialists.
